CORE VALUES AND BELIEFS

Values and positive relationships are vital to the school’s success. Our Vision – “Kia Mataara: Be Vigilant, Choose Wisely” incorporates the following values:

  • that our students are respectful of self, others and property;
  • that our students are responsible and reliable;
  • that our students are resilient and persistent;
  • that our students are positive, confident and successful;
  • that our students are empowered to be life-long learners;
  • that our students are honest and caring.

To realise our Vision, we hold these six key beliefs:

  • All students should leave our school with the foundation skills of literacy and numeracy in place;
  • Students are equipped to be powerful life-long learners with “learning how to learn” skills, modern technology skills and the ability to thrive in a rapidly changing world.
  • Teachers need to be creative coaches able to provide quality guidance and feedback to ensure students reach their potential;
  • Students are challenged with real and relevant curriculum challenges to ensure that all students gain appropriate knowledge through positive involvement in learning.
  • Teachers present focussed classroom organisations and informative room environments which affirm quality learning and celebrate success.
  • Partnership with parents and students and the community are to be seen as vital to our success.
