Term 4 Week 1

Welcome to Term 4.

I trust everyone had a safe and enjoyable break.

 

Key Focus for Term 4

             Academic Success

                          NCEA Internal assessment

                          finishes Mid-November.

                          NCEA External assessments begin November 19^th.

                          Middle school testing starts November 21^st.

             Standards

                          Work continues on uniform, appropriate use of language,                           and general respect and responsibility.

 

We appreciate parental support.

 

Dove programme

Facilitators from this organisation have begun work with some individual students and class groups (at Year 10) on dealing with conflict, anger and violence.

Our expectation is that students in the programme will gain skills in dealing with conflict other than resorting to verbal or physical violence.

The plan is to extend the programme so that all Year 9 and 10 students have been through.

This is part of our Safe School initiative which also involves Year 7 and 8 students in the Cool Schools’ Peer Mediation programme.

 

Planning for 2008

This is well underway. During this term there will be opportunities for parental and community input as we fine tune our curriculum and reassess the school’s vision and values.

Some review is conducted during the various Ropu meetings.

Some survey material will also be sent out for your feedback.
